For a long time I’ve known the nuts and bolts basics of estate planning.

And then I had children. I was blessed to become a Mom to 3 wonderful kids – and the importance of estate planning was magnified (and not only because a will is the only way you can designate a guardian for your children).

And then my friends, neighbors, and acquaintances from church were becoming parents, too. I’ll always remember the friends who stopped by – giddy with excitement over a weekend getaway with Grandma babysitting their little ones – but only if they had a will! I helped.

And then I helped widows and single friends who knew they should plan their estates, but it just hadn’t been a priority and they needed some help making it happen. I helped.

And then a friend’s family circumstances changed, and difficult as the change was, they knew they needed to update their wills. Their choices for personal representative and trustee needed revised. I helped.

And when a loved one dies, I have helped with probate, inheritance tax determinations, and trust administration.

Most importantly, since law school I have been married to a smart attorney with C.P.A. experience who has served as a corporate trust officer for decades. When we talk shop, it’s about the best wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
I don’t know any one with a better sense of humor who knows trust administration better than him!
